This hands-on activity encourages creativity, exploration, and a little prehistoric fun for all ages. Everyone gets to take their fossil creations home to dry and display! This event will be alongside Y on the Fly at Velvet Ice Cream, so be ready for other fun as well!

ArtsExperience the art of glassblowing! Create a glass project you select with individual guidance from our professional glass artist. New updates to our Glassblowing Experiences! Beginning in April, weโre rolling out a different style of booking glass sessions, making it easier to schedule for our guests and offering more opportunities to choose your own project. Select our monthly project, OR pick from our current list of options. You can now create a variety of glass all throughout the year! We hope you enjoy the new freedom of choosing your project and a user-friendly check-out system. Registration Required/Prices Vary by Project, General Price Range: $35-$75/Members receive a $10 discount | Ages 12+ Reserve a Session! Things to Remember about Glassblowing Experiences Pre-registration is required for all glassblowing experiences. (Register early! Experiences sell-out quickly) Participants must be 12 years of age or older You will work one-on-one with our artist. Sessions range from 15-30 minutes depending on the piece being made For your safety, closed-toe shoes and eye protection (provided by The Works) must be worn at all times in the Glass Studio All participants must fill out The Works Glass Studio Release Form on-site prior to their experience Please plan to arrive a few minutes prior to your session. If you arrive late, you may be asked to wait for the next session, if available We are unable to provide refunds for glass experiences. Please call Guest Services at 740.349.9277 for more information Your piece will be cooled slowly in our annealer and will be ready to pick-up one week after your experience. ๐๏ธ American Revolution: Shot Heard Round the World to Declaration of Independence
CommunityView original ↗Dr. Barbara Terzian discusses the events of Lexington and Concord, Thomas Paine's Common Sense , and the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence, adopted by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, is the founding document of the United States. Months earlier, Thomas Paine authored a pivotal pamphlet titled Common Sense that argued for American independence from Britain. Dr. Terzian will discuss the writing and passage of the Declaration and how Common Sense served as its precursor. Dr. Barbara Terzian is a professor in the Department of History at Ohio Wesleyan University. She is a specialist in U.S. legal and women's history and teaches women's history and other courses in U.S. history from the colonial period through the Civil War. Her research focuses on Ohio's constitutional history in the 19th century, particularly as it affected African Americans and women. Her publications include "Ohio's Constitutions: An Historical Perspective" in the Cleveland State Law Review and "Let Us Agitate: Woman Suffrage at Ohio's Constitutional Conventions, 1850-1913" in The History of Ohio Law.
